Mission
Our Mission is to create and sustain a community of
women who pray and encourage each other in our walk of faith through our
relationship with Jesus and one another.
The term “secret sister” has much more meaning than you might realize;
in fact, women are our spiritual sisters. And as it is in physical
families, so it is in our church family. We have a responsibility
to care for, pray for, and seek blessing for one another. The idea
of this ministry is for each to focus on being a blessing, which opens
doors for each of feel blessed.

Secret Sisters at Westfort
The Secret Sister Program runs for the year from February to
February. The 2010-2011 Secret Sister Program began on
February 20, 2010 with our annual "reveal" luncheon. With
much delight, and laughter, we discovered who has been pouring prayers
and encouragement into our lives over the
past year.
In year's past, we
heard the lengths that Marni will go to hide her identity and how hard
Florence tried to discover who her sister was! We were able to express
our gratitude for the care we had received and we were able to share the
God stories of how God used our secret sisters to encourage us at just
the right time when we most needed it.
We also received our new secret sisters for the upcoming year and many of us left Swiss Chalet planning new ways to bless our new secret friend in the coming months. We were presented with a prayer bookmark with some prayer suggestions on the back, and a magnet to remind us to pray for our secret sister. (return to top)
Responsibilities as a Secret Sister
1. Know that it is a commitment. The lady you are assigned will be expecting you to uphold her in your prayers and she should be able to rely on you for encouragement.
2. Pray daily for your sister. Get to know her needs and her family’s needs so that you may pray specifically for them.
3. Make an effort to get to know your sister. Discover the likes and dislikes of your sister. Know her favorites. Find out all about her.
4. Be an encouragement to your sister. Send her cards or notes of encouragement.
5. Remember your sister on her special occasions. Don’t forget to send cards for her birthday and anniversary or special landmarks in your sister’s life.
6. Keep it a secret! Don’t let anyone know whom you have. Leave your cards or notes in the box outside the sanctuary when she is not near or have someone else deliver them. If you take them to her house then do it when she is not home or have a friend do it.
7. If you are unable to continue, contact Nicole Jerome, Secret Sister coordinator. If you find you are unable to continue participating in the Secret Sister program, let Nicole know so another ‘sister’ can be found for the lady you were assigned.
You can be the instrument that God has placed in this person’s life to give them the encouragement they need right when they need it. “A word spoken in due season, how good it is!” Proverbs 15:23. Praying daily for your sister will strengthen you, and the rewards can be immeasurable. (return to top)
Praying for Your Secret Sister
Praying daily for your secret sister is the
heart of this ministry.
And you might
ask how do I pray for someone if I cant reveal my identity to the
person? How will I know what concerns she has, or what she is
facing? The answer gloriously is to pray for the Holy Spirit to
guide and direct your prayers. You will be amazed at the insight God
gives as you pray. You will be amazed at the "chance" encounters you
have with your secret sister. (One lady was able to give her secret
sister a ride when she lacked transportation.)
You also can pray Scripture for your secret sister. There are some promises in the Bible that asked for all women.
"Lord, I pray that out of the glorious richness of your resources you will enable my sister to know the strength of the Spirit's inner re-enforcement--that Christ may actually live in her heart by faith."
(Ephesians 4:17)Father, remind my sister today that we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time. Refresh her today God so that she won't get discouraged of give up.
(Galatians 6:9)Father, God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would please give my sister the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that she might know you better today. (Ephesians 1:17) (return to top)
